Saving Money on AWS: Automating Stopping & Starting of EC2 Instances via CRON

This video is using a third-party tool called Botmetric to create CRON jobs to stop and start EC2 instances on a regular schedule.

Shutting down EC2 instances when you leave work Monday – Friday, and starting them up again right before you return to work the next day, and shutting them off on Friday when you leave the office and starting them up again before arriving for work on Monday can save you more than 60% of your monthly EC2 costs!

You can do with with regular CRON jobs via a terminal, but this product makes it easy.

Either way, you should be doing this to #savemoneyonAWS!
